It's time to jump into the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge odds as the PGA Tour makes its fourth and final stop of the season in the Lone Star State this week.

Colonial Country Club hosts this week's 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge and is a 7,289-yard par-70 in Fort Worth, Texas. John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell designed the historic course back in 1936, and the course is coming off of a renovation by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner over the past year.

The man who won the first major championship of the year at last month's Masters, Scottie Scheffler, is the outright betting favorite by a wide margin this week at +280 odds at bet365, with Collin Morikawa behind him at +1500 following Morikawa's top-five finish at the PGA Championship.

2024 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds

Scottie Scheffler is once again the outright betting favorite this week at +280 odds to win the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. The Texas Longhorn had won four of his last five starts before this past weekend when he tied for eighth at the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.

The 27-year-old made headlines on Friday morning when he was arrested on his way to the golf course and booked along with a mugshot. Scheffler noted that he was stretching in his jail cell in hopes of staying loose before his morning tee time, and he would eventually return to the golf course in time to shoot a second-round five-under-par 66.

However, Scheffler struggled on Saturday as he shot a two-over par 73, which pulled him out of contention. It was the No. 1 golfer in the world's first over-par round of 2024 all season long. His caddie Ted Scott also wasn't on the bag for Saturday as one of Scott's children was graduating from high school, so they had arranged for Scott to miss that round in advance of the tournament and Friday's events.

Nonetheless, Scheffler bounced back with a final-round 65 (-6) to backdoor a top-10 finish at Valhalla. He has a chance to win his fifth tournament in seven starts this week at Colonial. After missing The CJ Cup Byron Nelson three weeks ago in McKinney, Texas (a suburb of Dallas, where Scheffler makes his home) as he anticipated the birth of his first child, Scheffler is expected to play this week in Fort Worth in front of a hometown crowd.

The 10-time PGA Tour winner's arraignment for his arrest this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky is scheduled for Tuesday, so it remains unclear if he will attend both that and travel down to Fort Worth to play the Charles Schwab Challenge this week.

Scheffler is making his fifth start at Colonial this week. After finishing in a tie for 55th here in 2020 and missing the cut in 2021, Scheffler has contended each of the last two years. He lost in a playoff to his close friend Sam Burns in 2022 to finish in solo second and tied for third in 2023 as he finished just one shot behind Emiliano Grillo and Adam Schenk.

Grillo won that playoff over Schenk and is in the field this week to defend his title at 105-1 odds as of Monday morning at bet365. The 31-year-old started off the 2024 season strong with four top-22 finishes in his first five starts, but he has just one top-30 finish in his eight starts since then.

He has just two missed cuts this season, but both of them came at the two major championships, including when he missed the cut by three shots this weekend at Valhalla. He will look to find momentum at Colonial this weekend, as he has three top-10 finishes in eight starts in Fort Worth throughout his career.

Collin Morikawa will tee it up in Fort Worth this week and has the second-shortest outright odds at +1500. The six-time PGA Tour winner was underachieving by his standards to start the season as he had just three top-40 finishes in his first seven starts. However, his short game and putting have clicked since then as he has recorded five straight top-25 finishes, including top-five finishes at both major championships.

No other golfer can boast top-five results at both the Masters and the PGA Championship other than Morikawa. He lost in a playoff in his tournament debut here in 2020 to Daniel Berger and has finished no lower than 40th in his four appearances at Colonial.

Jordan Spieth is the third and final golfer in the field with outright odds shorter than 20-1 as he opened at +1900 on Monday morning at bet365. The 2017 winner here at the Charles Schwab Challenge has thrived at Colonial over the years with top-10 finishes in eight of his 11 appearances as he has played this event each year since 2013.

Spieth has had an underwhelming season by his lofty standards as he has not contended since the first event of the season at Kapalua, where he finished in third. He has had just three top-25 finishes in 2024, but all three of those were top 10s. His approach play has been the biggest reason for his lack of consistency as he ranks 135th in Strokes Gained: Approach this season. His -0.244 strokes gained per round on Approach is the lowest of his career on the PGA Tour.

On the other hand, Spieth's play off the tee is as strong as it has ever been, so there is upside if he can get his irons together this week in a familiar setting as a hometown favorite in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
